Yorktowne Cabinetry is determined to minimize our impact on the environment, each and every step of the way.

Responsibility to our environment and local community is nothing new at Yorktowne. In the early 1990s, Yorktowne participated in a voluntary program to reduce emissions on solvents targeted by the Environmental Protection Agency and achieved the required reduction and a Certificate of Appreciation from the EPA.

Since 2003, Yorktowne has contributed to Second Chance, a community program that helps salvage the historic features of local demolition projects while teaching construction and renovation skills to disadvantaged youth.

Additional Highlights

• Yorktowne has been awarded certification in the KCMA Environemental Stewardship Program


• 100% of hardwood waste is captured and salvaged to be used to produce renewable, premium wood products for other markets


• All scrap wood at our Dimension Mill is used to heat the plant in the winter and fire our dry kilns throughout the year


• Air filters capable of 99.9% cleaning efficiency can re-circulate the air used for dust extraction and deliver back to the plant for re-use saving as much as 58,000 gallons of heating oil


• All scrap cardboard and steel strapping is recycled


• Adhesives used in the construction of the cabinetry are water based and reduce the amount of VOCs


• Materials used in the construction and  and finish of Yorktowne cabinetry comply with Federal Guidelines of the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments and the industry specific MACT standard


• Products are tested and certified by the Kitchen Cabinet Association under ANSI Standard A161.1


• Yorktowne utilizes industry suppliers who have also stepped up their green initiatives


• KCMA Environmental Stewardship Program
  Yorktowne Cabinetry is an approved participant in the KCMA Environmental Stewardship Program and has been certified as meeting the ESP 01-06 requirements for Air Quality, Resource Management of Product and Process, Environmental Stewardship and Community Relations.
